8. Home - my house!

Well, as I'm on a tour of places that I love, have good memories of or want to visit, it doesn't seem out of place to include my own home!

My home is unremarkable in many ways; it's a semi-detached, three-bedroomed, ex-council property in a reasonably ok area of town. The garden isn't huge, but beyond the garden fence is a huge, green designated play area, so the outlook from the upstairs windows at the back gives the impression that you're in the countryside!  What makes my home remarkable to me is that we have now lived here for 21 years and have brought up two children here.  My home is full of happy memories: bringing home my babies, caring for them and watching them grow into entertaining little people and incredible bigger people, family Christmases and birthdays, parties, family meals, happy evenings spent with good friends...

We often plan where we're going to live next - we would like to be closer to the sea or further into the countryside and we'd like to be detached so my husband's love of loud music isn't an issue - but to be honest it's going to be such a wrench to leave.

Here are some pictures of my unremarkable yet remarkable home!

Happy days!

I think it's lovely to be so attached to your house. What lovely memories to cherish.

I'm not keen on mine, because so much needs doing that we can't afford. Even this week, while I've been decorating my bathroom, I've been imagining knocking it down and rebuilding :-(

Do you know what your photos tell me Linda? That your house is in fact a Home. Thank you for sharing it with us.

You're lucky to have green space behind your house. So good for the soul:-)
We've considered moving, too, but after 37 years we feel we've got the house more or less the way we want it. (Visiting from A-Z)

What a long time to stay in a house. I don't think we've lived anywhere longer than 15. Actually, that's kinda long too, so nevermind!

You're right about our homes. They don't have to be mansions. If they're filled with good memories, they ARE mansions in our hearts. Nice to meet you. I hope you follow your writing dream. I'm trying hard to follow mine.
