I'll Tumble 4 Ya BlogFest!

It's here!  The day of all the GREAT REVELATIONS!  Who did you have a crush on, or should I ask how many crushes you had?

Although my big crush actually started in 1979, I think it still counts as it lasted throughout the 80s and I'm not entirely sure I'm over him yet!  Maybe he's not really your classic pin-up, but I had his poster beside my bed and used to kiss him goodnight for many years...

I'm sorry, but this pic still makes me swoon!
I was definitely attracted to the scruffy bad-boy look and I just LOVE his voice - that gorgeous accent.  I hated Paula Yates, needless to say...
I wish I could get away with putting a poster like this up again, but I don't think my husband would understand :-(  Thank goodness for Google and YouTube!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nCqlh6uW_Es&feature=related   Gorgeous.  Sigh.

Very much looking forward to seeing who other people have chosen!  Thanks so much to M. Pax at Wistful Nebulae http://mpaxauthor.blogspot.com/2012/01/ill-tumble-4-ya.html and her fellow bloggers Suze from Analog Breakfast and Nicki Elson from Nicki Elson's Not-So-Deep Thoughts for organising this lovely bit of cockle-warming fun to brighten up a winter's day!

Others taking part are:

That is a classic, classic song. You've got definite depth to your crush...even if he is a little scruffy. ;)

Thanks for this peek inside your crushin' heart!

Oh, Bob Geldof was awesome, and I still think the Boomtown Rats is such a cool name for a band. Great song, and pick!

I like what Nick has said, depth to your crush! Did you also love Midge Ure? I still swoon over, 'If I Was' ... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dboze9wjE10

God, that song is so good.

Awesome pick. I want to sho-oo-oot the whole place down. On my playlist. :D

Great choice! I was a Duran Duran girl myself. The guys had some great hair back then, didn't they?

Alex Villasante said...

great choice. doesn't hurt that he turned out to be a great humanitarian. also, great speaking voice/accent.

Linda King said...

I loved Midge too - he looked like a 'real', serious man and I found that awe-inspiring! Vienna gives me chills - I know it's the obvious one, but it brings back lots of memories too!

Linda King said...

Oh yes, and I liked Nicki's 'depth to your crush' comment too!

Although I didn't have a crush on him, I completely understand yours. He had presence.

Bob Geldof is very cool.
I thought he was great in Pink Floyd's The Wall as "Pink".

Oh, yeah, and there was that little Band Aid and that concert he did too....

One group I never followed, but I agree with Timothy about Geldof's part in The Wall.

I never listened to that band...maybe I should check the YouTubes, judging from the other comments. Nice meeting you.

Nice choice. This blogfest is making me really want to turn on some eighties' music!

Susan Oloier said...

One band I never followed. Nice choice nonetheless :-)

Suze said...

Lin, I was listening to 'Vienna,' earlier! Fabu song. Just followed back with glee.

I don't like Mondays...Yes, Boomtown Rats! Maybe he's not the most gorgeous guy of the decade, but he made up for it in all kinds of ways from his big heart to his big brain. Good choice.

I didn't recognize him at first but now I see. A good crush on a good man.

Mark Koopmans said...

Ahh Bob Geldof... wow a fellow Dubliner makes the Hop :)

Glad your Howard Jones look made it as a Cyndi Look :)

This has been so much fun hopping around :)

I had no idea who that was! I listened a bit to the song and I've heard it before but I didn't know the band. Were you one of those artsy kids in school? ;)

Sarah Tokeley said...

Oh yes, Bob. And he only got sexier after Live Aid :-)

Catherine Stine said...

Yes, he's cute, I agree! I'm over from the blogfest (#57-Catherine Stines Idea City)

Linda King said...

Ha! Maybe I was 'artsy' - I certainly didn't fit in with the popular kids, used to wear mismatched clothes from charity shops (the brighter the better) and was heavily involved in a couple of theatre groups... That might be 'artsy'!

Linda King said...

"Oh yes, Bob..." words I always wanted to say... ;-)

Linda King said...

I'm going to listen to it again right now!

Alex J. Cavanaugh said...

Only if your husband gets to put up a poster of HIS crush!

Nancy Thompson said...

I remember him best from Pink Floyd's The Wall movie.

Linda King said...

I keep telling him he can but he pretends his only crush is me...

Theresa Milstein said...

I was a huge fan of him because he did the first big celebrity movement to raise $ for charity.

Trisha said...

I've hated a few leading ladies in my man-crushes' lives, too. hehe

so many 80s rockers were attractive because of their music.
great pick!
